There are places you will always Remember ... ... there are Experiences you will never Forget A top a hill bordering Umbria and Tuscany the Relais Gli Ulivi is to be found. This centuries old farmhouse has been transformed into an enchanting hotel, a structure of rare elegance and refinement, specifically designed for those who appreciate the best. What makes the Relais so different? The sensation of being at home with all the comforts of a hotel; the warm, inviting atmosphere where you are pampered and made to feel special thanks to the care and attention to you every need. The swimming pool, framed by a variety of roses which look down an almost sheer drop from the hillside to the verdant valley below .. a glance on a splendid panorama … all the various shades of red at sunset, with a flight of swallows to render the sight even more evocative ... all this seems, it must be said, the setting for a fairy tale. Yet, at the Relais Gli Ulivi, this is a daily experience, made even more inimitable because it is shared with only a few, select guests. In fact, the hotel can only accommodate 22 guests. But it is not merely the beauty of the scenery, which seems to be copied from a painting, that makes the Relais unique, it is also its strategically placed position between Umbria and Tuscany discreetly located in a park filled with incredible vegetation. It is here that you will find the conjunction between the fascination of tradition and the luxury of modern times. Two villas – one with hotel style rooms and large communal sitting rooms complete with fireplaces, the other consisting of only apartments. Let's begin with the hotel rooms: there are only six, their names inspired by nature (Olive, Walnut, Horse Chestnut, Hawthorn, Linden Tree and Oak). All are characterized by an atmosphere blending antique furniture and the exquisite fabrics by Etro with the latest technology. The bathrooms all have showers, Jacuzzi, and soft bathrobes in which to wrap yourself up for a sensation of total relaxation. The four apartments, which could be more appropriately defined as Superior Suites are named Stars, Moon, Sun and Earth. They all consist of a sitting room with log fire, kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom and are, needless to say, attractively furnished and equipped with all the best in the way of comfort. Services offered are the same as the hotel rooms - from housekeeping to the change of linens and let us not forget the opportunity to partake of breakfast, lunch or dinner in the comfort of your own apartment in front of a welcoming fire. Elegance, Refinement, Peace, Serenity and, why not, Romanticism are the five operative words that define the Relais year round. These descriptions are even more apt in the Spring and Summer; a refuge from the city for a few quiet days of relaxation. There is more to the Relais than merely lounging by the pool, tanning, reading a good book, sipping a glass of wine in front of a fireplace or sampling the gourmet delights prepared by our chef. The Relais has two swimming pools, a fitness centre with gym, massage room, sauna and solarium tennis court and mini football field, large garden and a play area for children. For those who wish to relax there are massages, wine tasting and cooking courses available. For those more inclined to be on the move, there are horse riding trails to be enjoyed in the company of our guides. The Relais Gli Ulivi is truly a little gem set in a verdant park waiting to be discovered. Here the ambience serves to invigorate and involve all the senses; perfumes, aromas, colours, lights and details which create a whole, inviting you to forget your hectic daily schedule and let yourself go in a vacation of true relaxation. You will find yourself in an Oasis ... The hotel's location, perched on a hill that divides the area of Orvieto from that of Città delle Pieve, makes the Relais a perfect starting point for short trips to places within a few kilometres. There is Arezzo with its antique fairs, Siena and Orvieto with their incomparable architectural treasures as well as other innumerable and unique towns dotting the Umbrian and Tuscan countryside. It is so easy to reach this little corner of Paradise: Take the A1 freeway from Rome in the direction of Florence and exit at Fabro. From there simply follow the signs to the Relais.
